My Favorites For The Girls
As soon as we found out we were expecting a little girl I started dreaming of Mommy and Me matching. The baby shifts have been a mainstay of Margaret’s closet since day one. Actually since day 60, because the 3-6 month shifts started fitting Margaret right at the 8 week mark. I still remember the day she wore her first – to meet my grandparents and family in Ponte Vedra, FL during her first trip to my homestate before we moved back. When we found out we’d be adding a little sister to our crew, we took a family trip to the Lilly store so Margaret could pick out a matching dress to give baby Catherine. They’ve withstood countless washes, been borrowed by friends, are great for winter with a turtleneck and tights, and the baby shifts come with matching bloomers. They seem to run true to size to generous since Catherine can still wear the 12-18 months at a heartily sized 19 months old. Margaret can wear her size but I’ve started buying the next size up for length to get more wear out of them. The Lilly Pulitzer Girls Donna set is a new favorite in our house – the set looks like a dress but comes with precious shorts they can wear by themselves with a little t-shirt. Perfect for the playground, the shorts provide modesty, and the soft fabric makes it a favorite for Margaret. We’re trying the XS on Catherine after this sale so we’ll see how that fits. The soft cotton fabric is another reason Margaret loves the Harper shifts. This sale we got the Sunshine State print along with the Unicorn. We’re also trying an XS for Catherine (which is a 2-3) to see if it fits her but aren’t 100% sure yet how it’ll work out in the armpits and length.
These Are A Few Of My Favorite Things
The Elsa top is a cult favorite. Silky, flowly, and seasonless – it is a real winner! The button down feature meant for me that I could wear them while nursing, if I needed or wanted to be a bit dressier. The Ophelia is the swing dress silhouette you hear me raving about and this white one caught my eye for summer. I linked the prints that as of writing this were still available in an XXL. The Monica skort is a part of their Luxletic line and while I’ve worn it for golf, I’ve also worn it to Disney World, and it is cute for every day wear! I can wear both the 14 and 16 and I think the main difference is just length – the 16 buys a little more length for me. The Etta V-neck t-shirt is one I held off on buying. $40 something for a t-shirt felt crazy to me but then one day I needed a white t-shirt and found a cute Etta with pompoms at the neck and went for it. I am SO glad I did. They are soft, wash well, and now I’ll be looking for them especially if there are sales. The Natalie Women’s cover up in white is a classic beach or poolside staple for me. I’m including it in my write up here because I think a lot of ladies in my size range don’t realize how many options there are at Lilly and pool covers ups are often one, even the styles that button up, like this one. My other half was also thrilled to learn he had options at Lilly. The men’s shorts go up to a 42R and are generously sized. He likes matching the girls, but honestly wears the shorts on his own. I think his favorite is when they have men’s bathing suits but they’re all sold out! If they restock I’ll let you know!
