The day I got the invite to Palm Beach with Beth and Danielle of Palm Beach Lately to feature the launch of the Sail To Sable Resort release, was a real pinch me moment. I’ve loved sharing Sail To Sable with y’all, and appreciate their efforts toward size inclusivity. Their preppy yet relaxed silhouettes, and thoughtful fits are becoming a go-to for my closet, and as a Florida girl, resort wear is a year round love affair!
Sarah and I headed down to Palm Beach after school drop off for our littles. The drive down is about 3.5 hours and took us through citrus groves where we even saw alligators on the roadside. While 2020 has thrown curve balls, one of many silver linings has been the opportunity to explore our own backyard and see more of the Sunshine State. I hadn’t been to Palm Beach in over 10 years and Sarah has been telling me about The Colony for as long as I’ve known her, so I was excited to see it for myself! It is currently under construction but that didn’t take away from the magic of the property and just made me even more excited for a return trip to see the additional updates! Like how great will their custom De Gournay wall paper be? A chic and perky Palm Beach must, this jewel box of a hotel doesn’t miss a beat when it comes to punchy, preppy details. The redesign was headed up by Carleton Varney, who is perhaps one of America’s most well-known interior designers and is the President of the illustrious Dorothy Draper & Co. With his signature touch there is nothing subdued about the property. The bright colors and symphony of textures create an oasis that instantly shifted us to vacation mode. They’ve been closed for months and upon reopening didn’t miss a beat putting health and safety at the forefront of their service. Masks were required everywhere and there were no issues with compliance. Guests were ask to only use the elevators with their party. There was hand sanitizer and wipes available and replenished in our room along with a UV Light cleaning machine for electronics! There was extra sanitizing of common areas each day. With so much outside space it was easy to dine and comfortably distance. You can find more details on their standards and practices here.
When we got there Sarah and I grabbed our masks and popped around the shops off of Worth Avenue before heading to drinks at the The Breakers Seafood Bar via the hotel’s golf cart, and then enjoyed a delicious dinner at Buccan, the mostly heartily recommended spot by y’all. We capped the night off dipping our feet in the pool and staring at the stars that were framed by the silhouettes of the swaying palms.
The next day was an incredibly special meet up with more Florida blogger friends. After trying on sweatshirt and sweatpant sets (that come in blue and white options) we kicked things off with an al fresco poolside lunch at Swifty’s Patio. I couldn’t stop marveling at the ceiling dripping with greenery and orchids and the Salmon Ceviche was delicious. The star of the show had to be the best chips I’ve ever had with their crushed avocado, the secret apparently being a drizzle of honey on the chips! I wore a Smocked Neck Short Sleeve Dress in the lightest, easiest fabric you could imagine, with my favorite Jack Rogers in the most versatile platinum color. I also wore my always faithful Raffia earrings from Tuckernuck that are proving to be perfect for every season! Blaire Rogers of TexaFlora looked darling in the Longsleeve Tunic With RicRac that I’ll be ordering immediately. Sarah Tucker wore the Embroidered Midi Dress in Blush that I got a chance to try on later in the day! Ebonee Mashae of Living Shae paired the Long Sleeve Button Front Sweater with a white pleated skirt for a fresh take on sweater weather styling! Beth and Danielle wore their Embroidery Ruffle Sleeve Top and Smocked Long Sleeve Top which is what I’m learning toward wearing for Thanksgiving!
After lunch, we got ready to have some poolside chit chat time and the weather could not have been more perfect for that! The pool area of The Colony has just detail after detail that will have any grandmillennial gasping! I wore my Blue Palm Print Ruffle Neck Dress that by now you’ve seen me wear multiple times because I can’t resist the hot coral fringe and tassels. Blaire was my partner in blue in her Cowl Neck Top with Pink Trim – peep that gold button detail! Beth and Danielle were cute as always in their Long Sleeve Tassel Dress and Smocked Long Sleeve Waist Dress and I’m going to need them to take me hat shopping next time because they really are the experts! Sarah was poolside ready in the Sleeveless Classic Tunic in Blush. And Ebonee looked fabulous in the Embroidered Midi Dress in Blush!
With the prettiest weather you could imagine, Sarah and I snuck in some shopping time on Worth Avenue checking out the Lilly Pulitzer store, where I picked up some souvenirs for the girls and eyed the custom shift making option for my next trip. We loved the Aerin store where I added some items to my Christmas list. And we melted over the most incredible nightgowns and linens at Kassalty’s.
We headed back for one last change of clothes and I got to try the Embroidered Midi Dress in Blush and I especially love the pom pom details. Sarah wore the Ruffle Neck Dress in the prettiest pale blue. Beth and Danielle wore the Ruffle Neck Maxi Dress in Blue and Palm, Ebonee wore the show-stopping Blue Palm Print Caftan, and Blaire wore the Button Front Midi Dress. We headed down to the beach for the prettiest picnic I have ever been lucky enough to be a part of set up by The Pretty Picnic. We each got our individual charcuterie boards that we were able to enjoy then and later! The wind didn’t stop us from having a great time and even though I’m a Gulf Coast gal, I was actually born in Jacksonville and as such I think my heart feels a little bit at home by the Atlantic.
It is hard to say what I loved the most about this trip. Even though it was a quick getaway in the middle of one of my busiest weeks yet, it was good for the soul. Every detail of sunny Palm Beach was a little escape, and the opportunity to connect with friends and colleagues has been a real gift that we all know happens more rarely during this unprecedented time. And representing a brand like Sail To Sable is such a privilege, especially when paired with the chance to spend time with this incredible group of ladies.
