We’re twelve days away from New Year’s Eve, with only 8-9 shipping days along the way. So, if you haven’t found the perfect party dress, now’s the time! Similar to last month’s holiday outfit roundup, today I’m going to share plus size NYE outfits for every occasion. Whether you’re ringing in the new year at a party with friends, out on a quiet date night, or with a low-key celebration at home, I’m sharing a little bit of everything. All of these pieces are available in extended sizes…but, fair warning, some are quickly selling out!
New Year’s Eve Celebrations
To find the perfect outfit for ringing in the new year, you must first start with your plans. Curtis and I are torn between a cozy night in and a fun evening out. We will also be celebrating my future brother-in-law’s birthday, so we’re trying to figure out the plans for that. Either way, there are so many fun ways to celebrate this special day. Here are a few of my favorites!
- Noon Year’s Eve: If you’re ringing in the new year with kids, you could move the celebration up to noon. Go all out with fun decorations, party hats, noise makers, balloons, confetti, and a countdown. This girls’ sequined tulle dress would be adorable for the occasion!
- Intimate Date Night: If you’re looking for a quiet, intimate celebration, plan a date night with your significant other or with a few other couples. This post on dating your spouse might give you some ideas. Many of the plus size NYE outfits I’m sharing today would be great for a date night!
- Classic Cocktail Party: This is a no-fail NYE option. Who doesn’t love getting dressed up for a fun New Year’s cocktail party? If you’re attending a party at a friend’s house, be sure to bring a hostess gift to say thank you!
- Cozy Night In: Gather your girlfriends, your kids, or even just enjoy a night to yourself! A quiet night in is often a peaceful and relaxing way to start off another year. Add a festive headband to a pair of pajamas for a casual NYE outfit.
Plus Size NYE Outfits
In order to keep things simple, I’m going to break it down into two main types of plus size NYE outfits – dressy and casual. Here are a few of my favorites this season!
Dressy NYE
Dressy Plus Size NYE Outfits
First up, dressy options! These plus size NYE outfits would be great for many different types of celebrations including a date night, girls night out, or a cocktail party with friends. If there’s ever a time to bring out the bright colors, shimmery sequins, and festive feathers, this is it! That’s one of the reasons why I love putting together a New Year’s outfit. It’s such a fun opportunity to break out from your norm and wear something a bit bolder and braver than usual (if you feel like it, of course!)
Shimmery Sequins
There are tons of great sequin pieces to choose from this year. For a classic look, this gold sequin midi dress or this black and ivory sequin embellished jacket are wonderful options. This $85 black sequin dress is another classic. But, there are only a few pieces left, so grab it while you can! I’m also loving all of the fun, colorful sequin dresses currently available. This pink sequin mini dress and this rainbow sequin dress would make standout plus size NYE outfits! If you prefer a longer length, this yellow sequin maxi is stunning.
FEATHERY FAVORITES
Feathers are just as popular as sequins this year, and I’m here for it! The pink dress with feather cuffs that I’m wearing in these pictures also comes in a beautiful yellow and a classic black. All are available up to XXXL. For a bold look, this light pink feather mini dress is so fun. And if you prefer tops, this button-up shirt with feathers comes in white or pink, up to size 24, and is currently on sale!
CASUAL NYE
Plus Size NYE Pajamas
If you’re opting to stay in, you can create a festive look by pairing pajamas with fun accessories. PJs are perfect for a Noon Year’s Eve party, a girls night in, or a family game night celebration.
Festive loungewear
At first glance, these might look like your everyday pajamas…and okay, maybe they are! However, with a few special touches they can transform into plus size NYE outfits!
This satin and feathers set and this feather shorts set are classic pairs of pjs. If you love stripes, this knit kimono set and these blue striped pjs are for you. And if you’re wanting to ring in the year with a bold print, check out these cheetah print pajamas, these fun unicorn pjs, and this zodiac sign robe.
COMPLETE THE LOOK
NYE Accessories
When all else fails, accessorize! A sparkly shoe or a festive headband can turn an everyday outfit into a New Year’s outfit.
NYE Headbands
Headbands are very “in” right now, which makes it easier than ever to find unique options. This “Happy New Year” headband and this star headband will compliment everything from jeans and a casual top to a fancy sequin dress. And how fun is this disco ball headband!?
Festive Earrings & Bags
By now, you probably know that I’m a big fan of holiday statement earrings. They’re just so fun! These star drop earrings are a splurge, but gosh, do I love them. If vintage is your thing, these star and moon studs and these celestial earrings are both beautiful. The color of these purple stud earrings is stunning, and you would get so much wear out of them.
Accessorizing with a special bag is another fun and easy way to add character to an outfit. This clear embellished clutch (on sale) and this gold sequin bag are two of my favorites.
Standout Shoes
Lastly, a pair of standout shoes is must when plotting plus size NYE outfits. These Kate Spade heels are so fun, and they’re on sale! These bow slingbacks and these bejeweled heels are both under $100. And the combination of bows and rhinestones on this platform heel quite possibly make it the perfect NYE shoe!
Plus Size NYE Outfits for Every Occasion
No matter what type of celebration you’re gearing up for, I hope this round up of plus size NYE outfits helps get your creative juices flowing. At the very least, I hope it inspires you to add a festive accessory to an everyday outfit to make it a little extra special.
