It feels like just yesterday we were basking in the lazy days of summer. Yet somehow, we’re only days away from Halloween. And I know the holidays are going to be here in the blink of an eye! One of my favorite parts of this time of the year is all of the classic and fun fall and winter fashions. You all loved the plus-size holiday outfits and NYE looks I shared last year. So today, I’m back with something similar, but a bit broader. I’m excited to chat about what I consider to be the best plus-size clothing destinations, and also to share some of my current favorite styles from each.
These are all stores and brands that I shop frequently and feel confident recommending. If you have any sizing questions, feel free to reach out via email or DM, and I will do my best to help you out. Without further ado, let’s jump in!
Popular Retailers With the Best Plus-Size Clothing
I love that some of the most popular retailers now offer clothing in extended sizes. It’s hard to narrow it down, but here are my top seven!
Anthropologie
Anthropolgie is considered one of the best plus-size clothing destinations by most of the plus-size women I know. They’ve committed to offering fresh styles with many of their private labels. They carry a selection of other great brands as well. I can always count on them to keep styles interesting and fun! Here are my current Anthro favorites.
Tuckernuck
If you have ever messaged me about needing an outfit, chances are that I have directed you to one of my all-time favorite shopping destinations – Tuckernuck. This is one of the first places I browse for every occasion, ranging from vacations and bridal showers to tennis gear and everyday dresses. While dresses are my most frequently shopped item at Tuckernuck, I think their sweaters are severely underrated. I have a few that are going on their fourth year in my closet! Each season I look forward to pulling them out, along with the festive holiday pieces I own and love from Tuckernuck.
Their private labels usually extend to an XXXL, which is what I primarily wear. However, they carry quite a few XXL styles that work for me as well. Their XXXL pieces can best be described as comparable to plus sizes 18W/20W, or a small 2X. They are offering more of their activewear in XXXLs these days as well. I occasionally see the next size pop up (their XXXXL), and I look forward to even more of those becoming available!
J.Crew
If J.Crew a.) opened a store near me, and b.) carried their plus-sizes in store, I’d have no money left! Their fall and winter clothes are *chef’s kiss.* But in all honesty, the brand offers some of the best plus-size clothing styles year round. Whether it’s sequins or cashmere, they always do a great job.
Boden
Boden is a happy and colorful shopping destination that a lot of people are surprised to learn offers pieces up to a 20/22. Their holiday collection is always fun with touches of metallic knits and dreamy velvet on pants, blazers, dresses, and skirts. It is a great place to look for staples like jackets and other outerwear. And their children’s line, Mini Boden, is adorable too. It has been a favorite of my girls for a long time!
H&M
Every year my love for H&M grows more and more. I tend to wear their XXLs, but they do have additional plus-sizes! This brand does a great job of mixing more current trends with staple pieces like trench coats, cardigans, blazers, dress slacks, and more. I would consider this to be one of the best plus-size clothing retailers when it comes to affordability and current styles.
Talbots
Talbots is absolutely a top destination for holiday outfit shopping and festive dressing. They’ve been offering plus sizes (and petites/petite plus) for literally as long as I can remember. I always appreciate knowing that if I need a core item, such as a new coat or a great pair of jeans, I can count on them to have size-inclusive options.
But I don’t just love them for their basics. Talbots also has fun and on-trend options. If you were to browse their site today, you’d discover leopard print, satin slip skirts, bow details, sequins, velvet, and more. They have great après-ski sweaters and cozy cashmere in all sorts of cuts and colors. And most importantly, they carry plus-size clothing up to a 3X. I will always be a Talbots fan girl.
Show Me Your Mumu
I’ve had so many brides ask me about size-inclusive bridesmaid dress options, and Show Me Your Mumu is one of the first places I send them. But beyond bridesmaids dresses, Mumu is constantly working to add extended sizes into their collections. So whether you’re lucky enough to be shopping for the last few Eras tour concert stops, or you’re looking for holiday sequins, this is my personal honey hole! They have great plus-size pajamas too, so you can match your girls with sizes XXS-3X. I love everything from their beach and pool cover-ups to their day dresses.
I find that Mumu style run TTS and sometimes they’re a little oversized, so order accordingly. If you are between sizes and prefer and oversized fit, then order up. But if you prefer more fitted, look size down.
Favorite Size-Specific Stores
Eloquii
Eloquii is a popular destination for sizes 10-26. Their new limited-edition collaboration with Kate Spade is excellent! The collection is full of great holiday styles (think sequins, feathers, bows, and polka dots). Whether you are shopping for workwear, matching sets, dresses, sweaters, or sequins, Eloquii has it all.
Lane Bryant
Another spot dedicated to plus-size shopping, Lane Bryant continues to offer basics, elevated everyday styles, and special occasion pieces. I feel like they keep upping their game. So if you haven’t shopped at Lane Bryant in a while, this holiday season is a great time to get back in there. They even have us covered with bras and activewear!
Best Plus-Size Clothing Amongst General Retailers
Target and Walmart
Target and Walmart are great affordable destinations for plus-size clothing styles. I’m always browsing their private labels to see what new designs they create! And even though they are in the fast fashion category, I consistently purchase pieces from both retailers that I wear season after season and year after year.

Special Shoutouts
While there are undoubtedly many smaller and unique brands out there working to offer extended sizes that I haven’t yet heard of, I did want to highlight some of my current favorites. If you have any additional plus-size brands that you love, please let me know. I intend to continue learning about them as often as possible!
Best Plus-Size Clothing Specialty Brands
Some specialty brands that I know and love are bigger names that many of you likely are already familiar with. For instance, Hill House Home, founder of the famous Nap Dress, continues to offer more extended-size pieces each season. They currently carry up to the equivalent of a true 3X in a few prints.
Some other favorites include Marie Oliver, Tanya Taylor, and Veronica Beard. While their styles are at higher price points, it is such a joy to find well-made and beautiful investment pieces for plus-sized shoppers. Sail to Sable is another smaller brand that I shop frequently. Their collaborations with Jenn Lake always extend up to an XXXL (this is my typical STS size, which is comparable to a small 2X or a 18W/20W).
And we can’t forget the option to have pieces made custom to our measurements! Fanm Mon is my go-to for this. This brand continues to blow me away with their embroidery and a variety of styles that are just so lovely. And I feel like their prices are incredibly reasonable and accessible for such incredible quality. I love that they are made available for women of any size.
One thing to keep in mind, when you’re shopping smaller brands for the best plus-size clothing, be sure to pay attention to their return policies. They typically allow enough time for you to order, try on, and make any necessary returns. However, they often have a shorter time frame on returns compared to general retailers. Just something to be aware of!
Never Fully Dressed
Never Fully Dressed is a newer to me brand, and I just love their clothing. They offer sizes 00-24, and their styles are oh-so-fun! This is my first year wearing NFD, and it certainly won’t be the last. I had the opportunity to visit their store in New York City this past September, and it was wonderful to walk into a physical store and shop their full collection of extended-size clothing.
Best Plus-Size Clothing in Department Stores
Dillard’s
Dillard’s has been my destination for special occasion styles ever since I was a young girl. It is a classic Southern department store, and there are several brands, such as Sugarlips and CeCe, that offer clothing in extended sizes. The pieces are always timeless and classic, and oftentimes affordable.
Belk
Belk is another well-known Southern department store that carries some of the best plus-size clothing. I really love two brands they carry: Crown and Ivy (their kids styles are also great!) and English Factory. If you want affordable, classic pieces, Belk is worth exploring!
Macy’s
Macy’s might very well be a miracle on 34th Street! They have a cute private label line, (of the same name), that offers some of the best plus-size clothing styles. Over the years, I’ve found some beautifully designed options there. They are definitely worth browsing if you are looking for classic and timeless styles.
