Is it just me, or are all of these virtual meetings really putting the “social” in social distancing? Every day each of us have multiple face-time commitments starting at 9 AM with Margaret’s morning Pre-K class and peppered throughout the day we catch up with friends and family on Zoom and Marco Polo. My sister has virtual classes with her MBA program. I have friends who are meeting with their clients over Skype. It is a good thing our priests couldn’t see me this morning because I’ve never been to church in my pajamas until today! I am not saying I’m planning on making all of this FaceTiming a black tie affair, and there will be some days I’m 100% committed to my pajamas and lounge wear. But other days I will be getting dressed for the camera, which means making it count from the waist up! What a great time for the statement sleeve to be having its moment! Not to mention statement earrings, statement eye wear and statement hair accessories! I pulled together some ideas from a mix of small retailers as well as big box stores who are periodically running sales. If I wasn’t already on board with these trends before, I sure will be now!
This beaded beauty from SeaMarie Designs really seals the deal on this look. Pair it with the fun sleeves on this J.Crew Factory top and some earrings from Tuckernuck, and you’ve got yourself a great look! Feel free to pair it with your favorite yoga pants!
The Nordstrom 25% sale drew me in, straight to this Foxcroft beauty- I just knew the bow sleeves would really have a time to shine during my next video chat. Sadly it isn’t part of the sale but I couldn’t resist. The BaubleBar earrings are though, and they’ll be arriving shortly. I’m really drawn to butterflies at the moment since they seal themselves into an ugly cocoon and emerge more beautiful than ever before! I’ve been leaning into the acrylic glasswear lately for my iced coffee in the morning and my evening happy hour so that if an antsy pants climbing obsessed child knocks my beverage over, the only thing broken is my spirits! JKJK It isn’t that bad. But at least there isn’t any broken glass! And with everyone looking into your living space, now is the time to get your interiors in order and find a great piece of art! Amanda Ryan Tucker is so talented and this painting gave me a moment of zen reminding me of evenings spent watching the shrimp boats come in off the Atlantic on my grandparents back porch. I’m finally going to get my mother and child portrait hung thanks to all of this time at home!
I haven’t quite ventured into the hair bow trend yet, but what better time to throw your hair in a high pony and pair that with a cute scrunchie! These Tuckernuck earrings were supposed to be coming with me on spring break but instead will lift my spirits and make a statement at my next virtual meeting! This puff-sleeve dress is a part of the Nordstrom sale and is such a fun twist on a great basic.
Nothing brightens a Zoom meeting quite like a little Lilly P. Another piece that was supposed to be on vacay with me, this bright number will now be starring in my morning check-in with Margaret’s Pre-K class. Throw your homemade latte in this cute tumbler and you’re ready for the day!
These lion’s head doorknocker earrings stopped me in my tracks. Another cute option from SeaMarie, I think they’d look cute with the Tuckernuck gingham puff sleeve top. This LeLe Sadoughi white eyelet headband is one of my favorites. I wear it a ton and feel like I’ll be doing so even more now. Artist Shannon Kirsten, who we’re lucky enough to call local, has so many cute options on her site including this weekly planner. So much of our lives right now is being experienced online, but I am a hand-written list maker and scheduler at heart. By the way, all this screen time has me ordering some blue light glasses. These are part of the Nordstrom sale as well and under $15.
These sleeves and Liberty pattern on the J.Crew frock are so major not much else is needed, but I felt like a fun pop of red would be perfect, thanks to these beaded hearts by St. Armands Design. I didn’t buy this top when J.Crew was having their big sale last week and knew I’d regret it, and I do. I haven’t pulled the trigger yet and am hoping for another sale. But I might be too weak to wait. TBD.
Okay this coffee mug deserves an onscreen moment and yet another butterfly because I too am hoping we all come out of this beautiful, healthy, and ready for life. This Banana Republic top has a lot going for it. A little sass in the sleeve and a great bow to tie up or leave hanging. The sweet floral print pairs well with these fun daisy earrings that are so light and comfy from St. Armands Designs as well.
This is kind of an in-between situation. You didn’t want to get out of your cozy Lake Pajamas but you need to look a little more put together for a virtual meeting. Throw on these tropical bird beauties by Beth Ladd Collections, a ruana or other cape like this one that is under $20 on Nordstrom Rack. And there isn’t anything a headband can’t fix and this raffia woven headband on Ulta is just $10!
So you rolled out of bed but you have to lead an important virtual meeting. Use this Lake Pajamas sleep dress as a base, throw a boucle jacket over it. These earrings add a little whimsy but aren’t too out there. And these blue light glasses from Warby Parker say “I want to protect my eyesight but also I am a total boss.”
Listen – this is a marathon, not a sprint. Some days will be full on pajama time. But I’ve enjoyed a little bit of both getting dressed and living in lounge city. Whatever your wearing, I hope you’re doing well, staying healthy, and in good spirits. We got this!
