One Easter, I think I was probably 10 or so, my mom and I went to Dillard’s to shop for a special outfit – as one often does in the South. Together we picked out my Easter Sunday ensemble that I sincerely hope we can find a picture of one day because it was a statement. A knee length, light-blue linen jacket and matching skirt with a floral top. A strong look for a 5th grader, but I loved it and I think my Easter style might have peaked in 1998.
There is something so hopeful about the promise of Spring and of Easter with the church coming back to life after its Lenten solemnity. Sweet chicks and lambs all over and a reminder of new life. I loved my Easter shoes and Easter gloves, even if I did have to wear tights sometimes. Margaret requested ‘fancy gloves’ once again this year and Hip Hip Hooray sent us out some sock and glove finery so that however Easter looks during this time of social distancing, our girls will be decked out.
I pulled together some of my favorite Easter looks, many of which Margaret and Catherine have been rocking lately. One of my favorite things about this time in children’s clothing is the pure sweetness it brings and bunnies are all spring long – dare I say, all year long! This year, Margaret is wearing the Lisette dress from The Proper Peony because it coordinates so well with the dress Catherine is wearing, that is also from The Proper Peony, but one Margaret wore about 5 years ago. So happy shopping everyone, tis’ the season for all things bunnies, and tis’ the season to support our small businesses – many of whom are running specials like Ellifox out of Charleston. What better time to shop with a purpose!
