I have admired the beautiful embroidery and appliqué work of Fanm Mon’s designs for quite some time. And a few months ago I was able to get my hands on some pieces to try them on for myself. This was all thanks to a proper introduction by Her Story Market (a wonderful Fort Worth-based business). I was instantly even more smitten with Fanm Mon and everything they stand for! One of my favorite things to do in this space is feature wonderful size-inclusive brands. So today I’m going to share a bit about this luxury brand, as well as highlight five reasons why it has left such a lasting impression on me.

Founded in 2013 by Sophia Demirtas, Fanm Mon is a luxury womenswear brand that prides itself in using a sustainable and eco-friendly approach to fashion. While “fanm mon” is a Haitian phrase that means “mountain woman”, this brand uses this term to describe all women who are nurturers and intertwined with nature. Not only does the founder’s Haitian background show through, but the artisan techniques of Ukraine and Turkey have been embraced in their intricate designs as well.

Fanm Mon is well-known for their stunning dresses, like the one I’m wearing in these images. However, it’s important to note that they also create two-piece sets, jumpsuits, handbags, and hand-knit sweaters and accessories! The craftsmanship of this brand is outstanding, and each piece is truly one-of-a-kind. The delightful colors and fairytale silhouettes have become hallmarks of this brand, and rightfully so! I love seeing such special pieces show up at some of my favorite retailers including Tuckernuck, Shopbop, Dillards, and more!

For a custom piece, you simply email your requests to sales@fanmmon.com to get started. My dresses arrived only a few weeks after I sent in my measurements. And guess what? They fit perfectly!

Not only do they offer their custom sizing option, but they will also make the garment of your choosing in any color combination. The value they place on unique pieces that allow the wearer’s personality to shine through is truly outstanding!
3. Exceptional Quality
Fanm Mon clothing is meticulously made with high-quality materials and intricate embroidery. I felt like I got to have my very own couture experience! The expert craftsmanship and special details take their pieces to the next level. Additionally, they are available at an accessible price point. This brand is committed to using thoughtful production methods that reduce excess waste. Not only do they recycle materials, but they also repurposed unused fabrics. If they happen to have any excess fabric, they give this to other fabric producers, rather than wasting it. Additionally, they encourage secondhand shopping of their pieces.

Fanm Mon’s founder, Sophia Demirtas, is an admirable champion for her brand, the people who make its garments, and the women who wear them. Her values shines through in all that she does from her bespoke designs to her desire to create harmony among women.
