I’m not sure how it’s possible, but Christmas is a mere two and a half weeks away! If you’re still marking gifts off of your holiday list, do not panic. You are not alone, and I have some ideas that might be helpful! I know there are literally thousands of gift guides this time of the year. So, rather than doing big gift guides for kids, I thought it might be more useful if I honed in on five gifts for girls of different ages.
We asked our girls, who are five and eight years old (pre-K and third grade), what their top five requests are for Christmas this year. They came up with some great ideas! All items that I’m sharing in this post are things that we either already own and love or things that are on our girls’ wish lists. Therefore, feel free to reach out via DM or email if you have any questions!
Gifts for Little Kids
Let’s kick it off with the top five gift ideas for little kids. These are some of Catherine’s favorite items (5 years old), as well as gifts that are on her list this year!
1. Maileg Mice
Sarah Tucker (aka Ms. Sarah to our girls) introduced Catherine to Maileg Mice for her birthday this year, and they were instantly a hit! Honestly, these are one toy that I’m not mad about constantly purchasing, because they’re so dang cute! Tons of great options for boys and girls, excellent quality, and they encourage hours of creative play.
2. Dress-Up Fun
For the little ones who love dressing up and playing make-believe, these gifts are so sweet. Catherine has the tulle cape and it is such a pretty piece. And how fun is the reversible Spiderman and Superman cape!? You certainly don’t want to forget the accessories, and these shoes, tiaras, and jewelry are our favorite. Speaking of favorites, this body glitter is at the top of the list for both of our girls. Not only is it easy to use and pretty, but it’s also great for sensitive skin!
3. Doll Obsessed
If your little one is obsessed with dolls, as mine is, these toys are oh-so-sweet. Catherine spotted this doll at the Ellifox store two years ago and it’s still a favorite today. We also own all of these doll accessories. The matching stroller is so cute and the doll bonnet is currently on sale. The wicker bassinet is an Amazon find that has held up so well!
4. Arts & Crafts Kits
When it comes to kids, I truly believe you can never go wrong with gifting an arts and crafts kit. They’re always fun, and they’re also a great way for kids to put their creative skills to good use! We currently have many of these, including the glow-in-the-dark rock painting kit and the unicorn mini garden. The cat treats jar painting kit is at the top of Catherine’s Christmas list this year!
5. Cookeez Makery
Speaking of the top of Catherine’s list, this is probably her number one request. If you’re not familiar with the Cookeez Makery toys, kids can mix up a recipe, bake it, and the end result is a plush toy! These can be hard to find, but I found them in stock and on sale for under $30!
Gifts for the “Almost Tween” Crew
Margaret is 8 years old and is at that stage where she’s no longer considered a “little girl”, but also not quite a tween. Therefore, some of the gifts on her list will still work for little girls and some would be great for tweens! Here are her top five most requested and well-loved items.
1. Toniebox & Tonies
I’m sure by now you’ve heard of a Toniebox. Maybe you own one or maybe you’re wondering if this toy is really worth the hype. From our experience, it absolutely is! Our girls have had a Toniebox for over a year and they both really love it. There are so many great Tonie options to choose from – everything from Disney characters to National Geographic Kids Tonies. It’s such a wonderful option for kids to have control of their own audio and music without screen time. Our girls enjoy listening to the stories as much as they enjoy dancing around to the music.
2. Tween Purses
Margaret has been asking for a “real” purse this year. It is very much one of those gifts that a tween would ask for. I am having a hard time believing we’re almost at that stage, but here we are! Both of these options are great for girls at this age. The size is just right and there are lots of fun colors to choose from.
3. Girls’ Beauty Products
If you have a girly girl, some fun new beauty products are always a great option. We have used this brand of kids’ makeup for years and love it. It’s completely non-toxic, which is great for sensitive skin. And they also make this nail polish, which is water-based and easily peels off. There are many color options for both products.
4. Girls’ Accessories
Okay, I’m going to cheat a little bit and combine two of Margaret’s top-requested items into one category – smiley face slippers and a monogrammed locket. Again, I feel as if these would both be great for tweens, as well as girls this age. These slippers are so cute, plus they’re currently on sale! And a monogrammed locket is a bit of a splurge, but I know it is a piece Margaret will cherish for years to come. She’s at the age where she is able to take care of nicer things, and I think this is such a sweet request.
5. Art Supplies
Just as they are for Catherine, art supplies are always a hit for Margaret as well. We’ve been buying the Mondo Llama brand from Target for many years, and I’m always impressed! They have everything from craft kits and stickers to quality drawing pads and writing utensils. Out of all of these, Margaret’s favorite is the 40-pack of alcohol markers, which have two different tip sizes on each end and can be used on paper, glass, wood, metal, and plastic.
