It has been so fun to try a new-to-me wine company, Pomelo Wine Co. Founders Randy and Megan Mason have been producing wine since 2004 and are known for their Rosé and Sauvignon Blanc. Perfect timing with summer just around the corner, which means hot days, and warm evenings are here to stay!
Their rosé is great for any occasion, but I know we’ll often be drinking it poolside! I decided to try my hand at a frosé and with a Florida twist and am sharing the recipe below.
Florida Frosé
Preparations:
Pour 1 bottle of Pomelo Rosé into a gallon Ziplock bag set inside a dish and freeze overnight or for at least 6 hours.
Next make the strawberry simple syrup. You can use a jar, covered dish, or sauce pan. Combine ½ cup sugar with ½ cup water and microwave until bubbling, about 1 – 1 ½ minutes. Stir until the sugar has dissolved then add 1 cup chopped strawberries and refrigerate overnight, or for at least 6 hours. Strain a sieve for your strawberry simple syrup.
Putting It All Together:
Scrape the frozen rosé into a blender. It won’t fully freeze because of the alcohol, so the consistency will be kind of slushy. Some rosé recipes add vodka, and if you wish to do so you can add about ¼ cup of your favorite vodka. For the full Florida Frosé magic, add 2-3 oz of fresh squeezed orange juice.
The end result was a refreshing frosé! We didn’t find it to be too sweet and instead the recipe allowed the crisp floral notes of the Pomelo Wines rose to shine through.
Now I just need to find some fun frosé glasses!
