When Ashley Scribi and I had some meetings pop up in Dallas, Texas, we immediately booked flights to meet for a girls trip in one of my favorite cities that I happened to called home for 13 years.
I was excited to show her my old stomping grounds, but since it was Ashley’s first time, the pressure was on to pick the perfect place to stay for a visit that we hoped would be just a little bit of work, and a whole lot of fun!
Enter Le Méridien Dallas, also known as The Stoneleigh – an iconic hotel with rich history and modern charm right in the heart of Dallas. When we discussed partnering, I told Ashley about the parties, weddings, and memories I’ve made at The Stoneleigh during our time in DFW! I even hosted a baby shower for one of my dearest friends in the Dorothy Draper designed penthouse!
But I hadn’t had the pleasure of staying as an overnight guest since their 2018 renovation. I felt certain it’d be ideal accommodations, but now that we’ve had the full experience and time to reflect, here’s why I recommend The Stoneleigh.
LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION
Everything’s bigger in Texas, including the commutes, so if you’re not careful you could find yourself driving all over the place. Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood known as Uptown, the location of The Stoneleigh is just steps away from art galleries, shopping, parks, performance halls, concert venues + my favorite museums like the Dallas Museum of Art, Perot Museum of Nature & Science, and the Nasher Sculpture Center. Practically across the street is family owned, Dallas-based department store, Stanley Korshak, that specializes in American luxury goods (and is where I found my wedding dress!) Dallas continues to be a world renowned foodie haven and while I have my old favorites, many of those and the new hot spots on the scene are close to The Stoneleigh.
ON SITE OFFERINGS
As much as the prime location made it easy to get around, when we didn’t want to leave, we didn’t have to! There’s a happening pool for those hot Dallas days. There’s fun events like their Speakeasy series and Yogarita! As far as dining, I ordered room service for breakfast two of the days, but Ashley and I tried their restaurant Graze and loved it! For us, it’s a toss up between classic pancakes or chilaquiles! The bar is at the center of the warm and inviting lobby that is intimately designed in a way that feels like your own living room. The menu looked great, but Ashley and I decided to trust the bartender, Galane, with a custom creation and he nailed it! Want to have the most delicious off menu concoction? Tell him you like tequila with some sort of fruit – but not too sweet – and prepare to be amazing! He nailed everything from the cocktails both on and off menu, to the wine recommendations!
SERVICE
Not only was Galane a standout, but Every member of the Stoneleigh team we encountered was lovely. They were attentive, kind and helpful. The saying that beauty is only skin deep applies to hotels too. It’s one thing to be charming and polished, but that only goes so far. Ashley and I both travel quite a bit – often at Marriott Bonvoy properties – and we agree that the people are the heart and soul of a good stay! The Stoneleigh offers the best of both worlds.
CHARMED, I’M SURE
The timeless elegance of The Stoneleigh stands out. As a city that a historic boom in the 70s, and a eponymous hit TV show in the 80s, sometimes all people think of when they hear Dallas is a mess of glass and concrete skyscrapers, big hair, and over-the-top glitz. The 1923 grand dame icon turns that on its head with its Art Deco and I’m so glad Ashley and I got to be a part of its centennial year. We took time – and would encourage you to as well – to explore the charming nooks of this Dallas landmark. If the Penthouse is open, ask for a tour of the timeless design that while remodeled, has maintained original floors, paneling, fireplaces, and more. It’s a special hotel for sure, and it’s so heartwarming to see how Le Méridien and Marriott Bonvoy are celebrating it.
