Does anyone else feel like there is a neverending struggle to find the perfect pair of denim? Or is it just me? I recently decided it was time to begin the process of a jean overhaul. I bought a pair of Madwell’s Kick-Out Crop Jeans and I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved them. I’ve honestly never gotten so many compliments on jeans in my life! Considering a great pair of denim is a size-inclusive staple piece, I decided I should test out some additional Madewell options this season. Today I’m going to share all about Madewell jeans sizing, highlight three of my current favorite pairs, and touch on how I plan on styling them.
About Madewell
By now I’m sure you’ve heard of Madewell and possibly own a pair (or two) of their jeans. But if not, let me give you a quick rundown! Madewell carries a variety of women’s clothing, shoes, and accessories. However, they’re specifically known for their denim. They believe “That the perfect jeans do exist. And that great style (and great denim) is forever.” And I think we can all agree with this! They are committed to expanding the range of sizes they offer online and in stores. This is why I truly appreciate Madewell jeans sizing options. I also appreciate their dedication to sustainability initiatives and their support of Black-owned companies and AAPI-owned brands.
Madewell Jeans Sizing
A while back I found out that LTK would be offering exclusive in-app savings on a variety of brands, including Madewell, I knew it was meant to be! The time had come to resume my jeans overhaul. I quickly jumped at the chance to get even more familiar with Madewell jeans sizing and try some new styles to share with y’all.

Kick-Out Crop Jeans
Let’s start with the denim that broke me out of my skin jeans rut, Madewell’s Kick-Out Crop Jeans. In the picture above I’m wearing the “Cherryville Wash”, and I truly love them so much! So much in fact, that I decided to purchase another pair of this denim – the “Black Rinse Wash”. I’ve found Madewell’s jeans sizing to be very true to size; I’m wearing an 18W in this pair, but I have also found that a size standard 33 also works for me. The fabric is excellent, very soft and stretchy, and they have “Magic Pockets” in front that are designed to “hold you in”. Right now I’m really feeling the classic black wash. It is a clean, deep wash without fading, which I find to be very flattering!

Curvy Perfect Vintage Jean
Next up is the Curvy Perfect Vintage Jean. This was my first time trying this Madewell style and I absolutely love them! They have a little stretch in them, but not so much that they lose their shape throughout the day. The front pocket paneling is constructed in a way that makes me feel confident enough to tuck in tops and add a belt for multiple styling options. I found the Madewell jeans sizing on this pair to be true to size. Once again, I’m wearing an 18W. I’m in their standard length, which is a bit cropped, but I’m also 5′ 9″ with longer legs! They do have a tall version that I might try for a full-length option. There are also various washes to choose from in this style. I really like that it’s still a straight-leg style, but not a true skinny jean! They also have an updated version of this jean in a wide-leg style that I’m interested to try!

’90s Straight Jean
The other new style of Madewell jeans I love is the ’90s Straight Jean. Once again, it is still a straight leg, but this pair has a vintage 90s vibe to it, hence the name! There’s less stretch in these, which at first made me consider sizing up. However, I learned with my first Madewell jeans experience that while they might feel tight in the very beginning, this quickly changes. In no time their denim loosens up and conforms to my body. All of their styles literally feel perfect after one wear! So if you find yourself tempted to size up, maybe give it a chance. Walk around your home in the jeans for an hour and see if they don’t loosen up a bit. It’s worth it to not end the day with saggy, shapeless jeans!
Notes on Madewell Jeans Sizing & Styles
Whether you’re a Madewell jeans sizing pro or it’s your first time trying a pair, I wanted to share a few quick notes to help guide you to a successful shopping experience.
- All of the denim styles I highlighted in this post come in multiple colorways. Therefore, if you find a style you really love and feel confident in, don’t be afraid to purchase a few different colors.
- Madewell jeans sizing is extremely inclusive and all three of these styles are available in petite, standard, plus, and tall sizes. From my experience, their denim fits true to size and I am consistently in plus size 18W. However, there were a few styles in which I could also wear a regular size 33. The good news is they offer free shipping and returns for Insiders (free to join), which is great for testing out new styles!
- As I previously mentioned, in order to ensure your Madewell jeans’ sizing is correct, I recommend wearing them around your home for at least one hour to see how they fit after they’re broken in.

How to Style Madewell Jeans
It’s no surprise that Madewell has tons of cute tops and sweaters this spring. It’s honestly hard to narrow it down to just a few favorites! However, if I had to choose, this red striped sweater, this navy striped tee, and this green striped button up shirt would be my top three. They also have lots of beautiful accessories to complete the look. I love these sparrow statement earrings, this seashell pendant necklace, and this woven mini bag. You’ll also find me pairing these jeans with some of my other size-inclusive favorites this year.
I’ve found the sizing on Madewell’s tops to be a bit different from their jeans. While I wear a plus size in their denim, I wear a standard XL in their sweaters and shirts (many of which go up to an XXL.) This just goes to show that it often takes trying things on, taking risks, and ignoring the size on the label to find a fit that feels the best for you!
Final Thoughts on Madewell Jeans Sizing
Overall, I think it’s clear I’m a big fan of Madewell jeans. They offer a variety of styles including classic and trendy cuts, and the size range is excellent. It’s so nice to have a few pairs of jeans that I know I can reach for again and again and feel great. I hope this Madewell jeans sizing review has been helpful.
